Bring Your A-Game With the Indie Games Accelerator 2019

By Arteculate Apr 22, 2019 #google

If you recall, we wrote about a hackathon aimed at supporting game developers called Global Game Jam. In case you missed it, you can read what happened here. If you’re looking at more ways to develop your game or you’re looking to spread awareness about your game, then perhaps the Indie Games Accelerator is for you. Curious to know what it’s about? Well, you’re at the right article.

What exactly is the Indie Games Accelerator?

The Indie Games Accelerator is essentially an accelerator for Indie game startups. In case you didn’t know, an Indie game or independent video game is a video game that is created without support from a Publisher. A few notable examples of successful Indie games are Minecraft and Cuphead. You also have titles such as Witcher 3 which is arguably one of the best RPG and open world gams of all time, having shipped 10 million copies in 2016.

The Indie Games Accelerator is a special edition of the Launchpad Accelerator program. This program is developed in collaboration with Google Play. It contains a vast curriculum related to gaming and also delivers mentorship from some of the leading mobile game experts.  The Launchpad Accelerator offers equity-free support, access to Google Engineers, access to Silicon Valley experts, PR training and close partnership with Google for three months.

Be a part of the Indie Games Accelerator for 2019

If you’re a game development startup based in Sri Lanka or any of the other countries listed, then you too can participate in the Indie Games Accelerator. You’ll have to bring you’re A-Game (pun intended) though. Submissions for the Indie Games Accelerator close on the 19th of May so you better get a move on if you want to take things to the next level (again, pun intended).

Those who get selected for the Indie Games Accelerator will receive an invitation to attend 2 all-expense paid gaming Bootcamps at Google Asia HQ in Singapore. In addition, they would also receive personalized mentorship from top experts at Google. They will also receive a Google Pixel phone and $20,000 in Google Cloud Platform and Firebase credits.

If that wasn’t enough, they also get an invitation to attend Google Playtime 2019. Added to that, there’s also a Delegate Pass for Google I/O 2020 up for grabs as well. You also stand a chance to have your game showcased on Google Play.

As we said, the application deadline is the 19th of May 2019. From there, the Class of 2019 will be announced on the 5th of June 2019. Following that, the gaming bootcamps will be held on from the 29th of July to the 2nd of August 2019. Once all that is done, the Graduation of those who took part in the Indie Games Accelerator will be from the 10th to the 13th of December 2019.
