22 Years of Resilience and Growth: Inside Creative Software

Creative Software

Founded in 1999, Creative Software is a global technology enabler and pioneer in Sri Lanka’s tech industry. The company manages teams of high-performing, dedicated software engineers for its global clientele, providing them with end-to-end software development and maintenance services through team augmentation. These services are under five distinct verticals; software development, quality assurance, application management, cloud services, and 24/7 support.

From its humble beginnings, Creative Software now powers leading organisations across several sectors, including healthcare, construction, oil and gas, marine, logistics, manufacturing, retail, finance, travel and hospitality, education, and more. The elixir for success is their industry-agnostic approach and vast domain knowledge facilitated by a technology-independent model. Collectively, the company manages 700+ IT professionals under its brand.

Continuous Innovation, Growth, and Agility

The Founders of Creative Software

Shortly after Creative Software commenced its operations two decades ago, the company achieved significant milestones. Notably, it had onboarded two leading organisations in the United States of America and Norway, with whom the company developed innovative technologies for Boeing and Microsoft. The story of the former was Creative Software developing one of the many robust systems that went into the production of the iconic Boeing 787-Dreamliner. The company also worked with the Norwegian company Fast Search and Transfer, which Microsoft later acquired. The collaboration continued with Creative Software’s vital role in developing the Document Parser module for Microsoft SharePoint Search.

Since then, Creative Software has grown into a technology leader, helping organisations build, innovate, and add value to their software suites with our very own talent here in Sri Lanka. Today, the company has customers across four continents, Europe, Australia, the USA, and Asia. Many leading product companies, especially in the Scandinavian region, have long-term partnerships with Creative Software to accelerate their technology and product innovation journeys. In 2020, its technical prowess saw it join the list of Microsoft Gold Partners. Creative Software is also a part of several joint ventures led by international technology companies that have relied on Sri Lanka’s engineering talent and invested in growth opportunities in Sri Lanka.

Powering the Next Generation of Youth

As an organisation that paves the way for many talented engineers and subject specialists, Creative Software strives to build a cohesive ecosystem that enables young talent to bring their ideas to life by investing in the next generation of youth through industry-academia initiatives. In addition, Creative Software is broadening its presence and reach in public and private universities across the country to provide experiential learning and knowledge-transfer partnerships to nurture industry-ready graduates. Layup, an end-to-end corporate training and development platform with state-of-the-art gamification and analytic tools, is a success story of Creative Software’s incubator ‘IdeaLab’ and many other value-driven solutions such as Qoshnt.

A Company Culture Curated by its People

Creative Software - People Culture

Creative Software’s progressive growth is primarily credited to its highly-skilled team of tech professionals, including interns and fresh graduates. With emphasis placed on a work-life blend, the company enables an open, flexible work culture facilitating a hybrid setup. Moreover, the company is committed to supporting all employees with well-being benefits that make a real impact during these trying times. USD pegged salary benefits, easing transportation challenges, offering renewable energy schemes to mitigate power outages, etc., are some of the many steps the company has taken to safeguard employees’ financial and mental wellness.

A recent internal survey powered by Culture Amp showed that 96% of Creative Software employees would recommend the company to peers. Work-life blend, teamwork, alignment, involvement, and company confidence were top scoring factors that make Creative Software a great place to work in more ways than one. A noteworthy figure puts Creative Software among the top 25% of global technology organisations in the SME category in Culture Amp’s rankings.

Through these efforts, the company aims to foster a diverse and inclusive culture where employees gain a sense of belonging and are empowered to reach their full potential in a culture built on their own experiences. With its high-end services, comprehensive technology stack, and extensive industry footprint, Creative Software is focused on strengthening the local economy by bringing in crucial foreign exchange and increasing the nation’s GDP while minimising brain drain during these unprecedented times.

In the current Sri Lankan economic climate and the impending worldwide market shifts, resilience will ensure long-term business stability; for Creative Software, its people play a vital role in shaping and reimagining the company’s way forward.
